Division Cross Country Success

Congratulations to all our students who participated in the Division Cross Country event. A special shoutout to Niharika, who did our school proud by finishing 3rd and earning a place at the Regional Cross Country. Well done, Niharika!

Mother’s Day Celebration

It was truly heartwarming to welcome our wonderful mothers and special friends to school in celebration of Mother’s Day. Thank you for joining us for the final part of the day—our students loved having you here!

Education Week

We had a fantastic Education Week, filled with engaging activities and learning celebrations. Thank you to all who participated and helped showcase the vibrant learning community we are proud to be part of.

Brainstorm Productions
We were thrilled to host a performance by Brainstorm Productions, sparking important conversations around resilience, kindness, being brave and respectful relationships. The students were thoroughly engaged during this valuable performance.

Student Learning

Support your child’s learning at home

Many parents are interested in looking at ways to support their child’s learning at home. The LEARNING POTENTIAL website supports the Australian Curriculum for primary school and is child (and parent) friendly. Click on the following link to find some activity ideas that will reinforce and build on the concepts and skills your child encounter in the classroom. http://www.learningpotential.edu.au/

Student Learning Progress

Semester 1 (mid-year reports) progress reports are due to be forwarded to parents and carers through Sentral on Wednesday the 2nd of July.

This report will be providing parents with a progress update on how your child has progressed in these learning areas through the first part of Term 1 and Term 2.

Parent Teacher Interviews will be conducted on Monday the 4th of August.

Zones of Regulation

Kuyim Primary School uses the Zones of Regulation approach.
This assists students to understand their emotions and how they affect their learning. Being able to self -regulate and be aware of their own emotions is an important aspect of this approach. Being in the green zone is when children are focused and ready to learn. They are given strategies to recognise which zone they are in and how to move into the best zone for learning. Students are learning about the Zones in their classes and the strategies which they can use to help them in each zone.

Parking and Road Safety

Together with Cardinia Shire Council, we wish to remind drivers of the importance of safety and adhering to the road rules when parking around the school, at pick up and drop off times.

To ensure the safety of all pedestrians, students and members of our school community, we ask that you:

  • Park only in designated areas: Parking is not permitted on nature strips, no-stopping zones, no-parking zones, bus zones, or areas reserved for staff. Please adhere to all signage and the road rules.
  • Follow drop-off and pick-up procedures: Use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic.
  • Be mindful of pedestrians: Follow directions from School Crossing Supervisors and take extra caution during peak times when children are arriving or leaving school.
  • Be respectful: Council Parking Officers are required to conduct regular patrols around schools to ensure safety. Please be respectful, and courteous.

Thank you for your support and cooperation on this important issue.

Student Leaders

Badge Ceremony
Our Badge Ceremony was a proud moment for many as we acknowledged our student leaders and celebrated their commitment to responsibility and school spirit. Congratulations to all our badge recipients.

Cultural Leaders Day
Our Cultural Leaders, along with the School and Vice Captains, took part in a special Cultural Leaders Day where they explored themes of diversity, inclusion, and the value of leading with empathy and pride in our multicultural school community. They were also privileged to meet the Cardinia Shire Mayor and received a guided tour of the Cardinia Shire Council Chambers.

Bridging to the Future
Our School Captains and Multicultural Leaders participated in the Bridging Now to Next program, which focused on leadership development and equipping them with the confidence and purpose to embrace future roles. As part of a community event celebrating Reconciliation Week, the day featured a traditional smoking ceremony led by First Nations custodians, along with cultural performances and engaging activities.

PJ Day Fun

PJ Day Fun
What a cozy day we had during PJ and share a book day. It was great to see everyone enjoying a relaxed day in their pyjamas while still engaging in fun learning activities. This day reflected our whole school effort to fill our Pom Pom Tub at the office and each classes success in following our Kuyim Primary School values and expectations.

Orange Door – 1800 312 820

The Orange Door welcomes people of any age, gender, sex, sexuality, culture, religion and ability. The Orange Door is a free service for adults, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and families who need extra support with the care of children.

You should contact The Orange Door if:

  • Someone close to you is hurting you, controlling you or making you feel afraid – such as your partner, family member, carer, or parent(s)
  • You need more support with the care of children e.g., due to money issues, illness, addiction

Social connections

Family relationships are still the biggest influence on your school age child’s development. Fitting in with friends and finding positive role models are also important, and you are able to help your child with these parts of their social and emotional development.

At school, your child is busy learning and making friends. This includes trying to understand the rules of life, learning about manners, values and what’s right and wrong and finding role models like teachers and other trusted grown-ups. At the same time, your child’s brain is developing rapidly, bringing increased emotional maturity, social skills and thinking abilities. Even with all these new influences, your home life and family relationships are still the biggest influence on your child’s development. Your relationship might change a little bit because you’re spending less time together – your child might even prefer a wave for a goodbye – but as a parent it is just as important as ever.
