From the Principal

As we approach the end of a fantastic school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have shared together. It is hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by, and we find ourselves filled with pride as we look back on all the accomplishments and memories we have created as a school community.

This year has been marked by countless achievements and successes from our students. Whether it is in academics, sports, or the arts, our students have truly excelled. From school concerts to the Harmony Day celebrations, each accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of our students. We couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them.

A huge thank you to our incredible teaching and support staff for their unwavering commitment to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students. Their dedication and passion have made a lasting impact on the lives of our children, and we are grateful for the positive influence they have had on their academic and personal growth.

We extend our deepest appreciation to all the parents and guardians who have been actively involved in their child's education and school activities. Your support at home plays a crucial role in our students' success, and we are thankful for the strong partnership we share.

As we bid farewell to this school year in the not too distant future, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and adventures that the next year will bring. We are committed to providing an enriching and engaging learning experience for our students, and we cannot wait to see what they will accomplish in the coming year.

School Sun Hats
Students will be leaving their sun hats at school on their final day. If these are lost or damaged, could you please place an order with the uniform shop for a replacement so that this is ready to protect your child for the start of next year.

School Council
Thank you to our school council members who have met with us during the year.  I have greatly enjoyed the support of our school council members and their approach to ensuring our students are enjoying a high-quality education.

1A's Funny Grassy Heads

1A have been learning to create and follow instructions during our Literacy sessions. We have also been learning about what plants need to survive. We made these crazy grassy head faces. Follow our instructions to make your own grassy head!

How to Make a Funny Grassy Head

Materials:

- A pair of old tights
- Lawn seed
- Potting mix
- Rubber band
- Cup

Steps:
  1. Cut off 20cm of the bottom toe section of a nylon stocking.
  2. Pour some lawn seed into the toe of the stocking.
  3. Fill the stocking with potting mix.
  4. Secure the bottom with a rubber band.
  5. Create a face with stick-on eyes and use pipe cleaners for a mouth.
  6. Choose a cup that fits the head without letting it fall in. Fill the cup with water.
  7. Place the head upside down in the cup so the top is in the water.
  8. Once the top is moist, turn it right way up and place it on a bright windowsill.
  9. Check daily to ensure it stays moist. If it dries out, wet it again or spray with water.
  10. After about a week, grass shoots will begin to sprout from the top.
  11. Once the grass is well grown, trim it with scissors for a haircut.

Year 2 Ballet Stars

Last week the Year 2 students loved taking part in ballet. They enjoyed learning new movements and practising balance and coordination while expressing themselves through dance. The children really enjoyed the music and movement. It was a fun and creative experience that encouraged confidence and teamwork. Thank you to the crew from The Australia Ballet.

Grandparent's and Special Person's Day

On Friday, 24th October, we welcomed many of our students’ grandparents and special people into our classrooms. It was wonderful to see how proud the students were to show off their school to their visitors. Thank you to all of the grandparents and special visitors that joined us!

Donation Requests

Donation Requests

We are kindly asking for your support with donations to help our students thrive.

Lego Donations
If you have any Lego—whether in sets or loose pieces—that your child no longer plays with, we would greatly appreciate your donation. Students will use Lego for learning activities and social play.

Uniform Donations
As we approach the end of our first year, we can see how much your children have grown! If you have any Kuyim PS branded uniform items that have been outgrown, please consider donating them to the school. Having second-hand uniforms available would be a wonderful resource for families.

All donations can be dropped into the school office.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment!

Kuyim PS Pop-up Produce Stall

Last Friday afternoon some of our passionate Kuyim Gardening group held a pop-up Produce Stall outside the school library for families to purchase fresh items from the garden. On this occasion students had harvested coriander, bay leaves, mint, broad beans, and rosemary from their school garden. The money they have raised from the first two Kuyim Produce Stalls has been used to purchase more seeds, potting mix, a pomegranate tree, a lemon verbena bush and tomato & bean stakes. We will publish information about our Kuyim Produce Stalls and it will be announced on SENTRAL when students have fruit and vegetables to sell and the funds raised will go directly into supporting student learning in the Kuyim Garden Patch.

Students have already explored tasting lemon mint cordial and broad bean dip from the produce they have worked hard to plant, grow and harvest. Our Year 1 students are investigating plants and flowers which attract bees to our garden, Yr 2 students have planted giant sunflowers seeds and Yr 3/4 students have planted a range of vegetables as a part of their inquiry learning which they will harvest and share together later in the year. Our gardening group have planted many seedlings including a “Cup of Tea” garden and a “Pizza Garden”.

Thank you for your support of our passionate gardeners at Kuyim Primary School.
