School review

Kuyim Primary School recently undertook a School Review. New schools complete a review approximately 18–24 months after opening to ensure they are on the right track and have strong foundations in place for continued improvement. The review panel, consisting of an external reviewer, experienced principals and our Senior Education Improvement Leader, evaluated school data and outcomes, observed teaching and learning practices, and met with students, staff and parents.

Following the completion of the fieldwork, the panel worked collaboratively to develop our new Strategic Plan, which will guide and drive our school improvement priorities over the next four years. Our next School Review will take place in four years.

The key priorities of our new Strategic Plan will include:

• Embedding the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 across our school.
• Strengthening staff knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
• Building staff data literacy to strengthen the use of student data and inform responsive teaching and learning practices that meet students at their point of need.

Premiers’ Reading Challenge

A huge congratulations to all of our students who completed the Premiers’ Reading Challenge! We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm our students have shown throughout the challenge.

As a whole school, we read an incredible 7,756 books! 

What a fantastic achievement! Well done to all of our students for making reading a big part of their days over the challenge and showing such a wonderful love of books. We are so proud of you!

A Big Thank You for Supporting Our Book Fair!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our families for the fantastic support of our Book Fair! 

The students absolutely loved coming along to browse the wonderful selection of books on offer, and it was fantastic to see their excitement as they chose their new reads.

Thanks to the amazing support from our school community, we received $670 in credit to purchase new books for our school library! 

This means we can continue to grow our library and provide our students with even more exciting books to enjoy.

Reminder ~ Hats!

It's that time of year again when all students are required to wear a sun-protective school hat that shades the face, neck and ears during all outdoor activities. This includes recess, lunch and outdoor sports activities.

All students are expected to wear their school hat in accordance with our Sun Protection Policy, which can be found on our school website. 

Thank you for your support in keeping our students sun safe.

✨ Book Week Celebrations at school! ✨

What a fantastic Book Week we had at Kuyim Primary School! It was wonderful to see our students getting excited about books, reading and all the amazing characters they know and love.

We finished the week with our Book Week Dress-Up Day on Friday, and our students certainly didn’t disappoint! The school was filled with superheroes, princesses, animals, wizards, characters from favourite stories and so many other wonderful book characters. The creativity and effort that went into the costumes was fantastic, and it was lovely to see the students proudly showing off their favourite characters.

The highlight of the day was our Book Week Parade, where students had the opportunity to walk around and show off their costumes. It was wonderful to see so many families come along to watch and support our students. The smiles and excitement from everyone made the parade such a special event.

A huge thank you to all our families for helping the students put together their fantastic costumes and, most importantly, for encouraging a love of books and reading at home.

What a fantastic day of running, jumping, throwing, cheering and plenty of fun! Our Athletics Carnival was full of energy, smiles and some very impressive athletic efforts from our students.

From the moment the first race started, our students were giving it their all! Whether they were racing down the track, competing in field events or enthusiastically cheering on their friends and house teams, everyone played their part in making the day such a success. 

A BIG thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support our students. We loved seeing so many familiar faces on the sidelines, cheering, clapping and encouraging our athletes. Your support helped create an amazing carnival atmosphere!

A special congratulations to our senior students who performed exceptionally well and qualified for District Athletics! 

Most importantly, a huge WELL DONE to every student who participated. You showed fantastic effort, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the day.

   

  

Over the last few weeks, students developed their skills in creating  engaging narrative texts. They explored the key features of narratives, including characters, settings, plots and descriptive language as well as learned how to structure their ideas to create a clear and engaging storyline. Students planned, drafted, revised and published their own narratives, making thoughtful choices about language and vocabulary to engage their readers.

Students have taken home a flyer with ordering details, this has also been emailed to families.
