Our school zone

Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). The restriction limits enrolments for the 2026/2027 school year.

Our school will accept enrolments from:

• students who live within the school zone
• students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
• students enrolling on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

Depending on available places, our school may be able to accept a limited number of out-of-zone enrolments according to next closest to the school.

The Department of Education will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary for the subsequent school year

Students living within our designated zone are assured a spot at our school, based on their permanent home address. Our school follows the Placement Policy for managing enrolments in Prep to Year 6, ensuring that students can attend their local school. Students zoned to our school also have the option to enrol in a different school should that school be taking children out of their zone.

2027 Foundation (Prep) enrolment

The Department of Education has a statewide enrolment timeline for Foundation (Prep) students. This timeline guides families on when and how to enrol their child in Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government Primary School, including Kuyim Primary School.

Applications to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for 2027 at Kuyim Primary School will open on 20th April 2026

What you need to do:

1. To book a school tour or learn more about our school and the enrolment process, contact our school by email at: kuyim.ps@education.vic.gov.au or by phone 5929-8411 
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by Monday 20th April 2026). This pack includes guidance on the application process. 
3. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 31st July 2026. Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3rd August and Friday 14th August 2026.
5. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28th August 2026.
6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2027.

Enrolment applications submitted after 31st July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
